Bureau of Cannabis Control is Now Accepting Applications for Certain Commercial Cannabis Activities
The Bureau of Cannabis Control (Bureau) has officially launched its online licensing system and is now accepting applications for commercial cannabis licenses for retailers, distributors, microbusinesses, testing laboratories and cannabis events. The Bureau will be reviewing temporary applications and will be issuing temporary licenses with an effective date of January 1, 2018. Temporary licenses will only be issued to applicants with a valid license, permit or authorization from their local jurisdiction.
Business and Professions Code section 26055(f) requires each local jurisdiction to provide the Bureau with a copy of any ordinance related to commercial cannabis activity. In addition, each local jurisdiction is required to provide the name and contact information for the person who will serve as the designated contact person for the state licensing authorities regarding commercial cannabis activity within that jurisdiction. We also recommend that each local jurisdiction provide an executive summary of its commercial cannabis ordinance. The ordinance, executive summary and contact information should be sent via email to the Bureau at bcc.localgov.submit@dca.ca.gov.
If you have any questions about any cannabis related issue, please contact Maricela Marroquin.
