RW&G Helping to Interpret
Proposition 26

November 2010

Richards, Watson & Gershon senior attorney Trisha Ortiz is participating in the League of California Cities’ statewide effort to help cities interpret and implement the recently adopted Proposition 26.  Ms. Ortiz, a member of the Firm’s Public Finance Department, has been asked to serve on the League’s Ad-Hoc Proposition 26 Committee, comprised of a dozen experts in California municipal finance law and the General Counsel of the League.  The Committee is charged with providing consistent and useful information to local governments regarding the as-yet uncertain impacts of Proposition 26 on local government fees.

While RW&G’s public law experts will be providing individualized advice to our local government clients regarding the effects of Proposition 26, the Firm also strongly supports the League of California Cities’ efforts toward developing useful information for local governments in evaluating a wide variety of local fees.

Trisha Ortiz specializes in advising clients on the adoption and amendment of taxes and fees, special tax and assessment financing, and contractual assessment financing pursuant to AB 811.  In addition, Ms. Ortiz provides bond and disclosure counsel services to public entities in connection with financing public projects.
