Sean B. Gibbons is a senior attorney in the Litigation and Labor and Employment Departments at Richards, Watson & Gershon. Mr. Gibbons specializes in the representation of municipalities and other public entities in employment-related matters in both the state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration proceedings.
Mr. Gibbons represents public entities in all aspects of litigation, including defense of improper discipline, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims. Mr. Gibbons also has extensive experience counseling public entities in all aspects of the employment relationship, particularly with regard to the development of employment policies, including the development and presentation of sexual harassment policies in compliance with California law.
Mr. Gibbons also specializes in advising cities, municipalities, and other public entities on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, including assessments of obligation and the development of compliance plans.
Mr. Gibbons earned a Bachelor of Arts in Labor Studies from the National Labor College in 2005 and obtained his law degree from Boston College in 2008. Prior to his law career, Mr. Gibbons was a funds administrator, benefits representative, and political action coordinator/lobbyist for the United Auto Workers ("UAW").
Mr. Gibbons has been recognized as a "Southern California Super Lawyer Rising Star" in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 by Law & Politics magazine. This distinction is given to 2.5% of attorneys selected to Rising Stars.
